Reactions have trailed the suspension of the widely publicised national carrier, Nigeria Air since the announcement was made yesterday.
A couple of Nigerians found the news rather ridiculous while some people have chosen to be neutral about it.
However, social media including Facebook and Twitter have been awash with reactions.
A Twitter user wrote: "Someone just said "maybe GEJ should have started it so they complete it" jeez!"
Lere Olayinka wrote: "Fact is
#NigeriaAir never existed, it was a scam. Apart from the logo that was designed in Bahrain, let them show Nigerians any other thing about it. N1.5bn cool cash in their accounts. Chai!"
A Twitter user, Oluwatosin Olaseinde, wrote: “The N1.5 billion that was spent on consultation for Nigeria Air could have been used to purchase dialysis machines.”
Another user lauded the Buhari-led administration for what she described as integrity.
She wrote: "I was utterly shocked about the suspension of
#NigeriaAir, but I commend the sincerity of Buhari's Govt for not keeping the populace in the dark. This is a mark of integrity and a difference between this Govt and previous Govts. I hope the Govt will come back with the best plan."
“They showed you a drawing of Nigeria Air; no plane, no hangar, no office, and a lot of you believed. That was how you people believed Oga Lifeless will make ₦1 equals $1. Too many stupid people in this country,” Oluyemi Fasipe tweeted.
It was gathered that the suspension was made because the Economic Management Team (EMT) did not approve it when it launched.
Hadi Sirika, Nigeria’s aviation minister, announced the cancellation on Wednesday shortly after the cabinet meeting.
Mr Sirika said: “I regret to announce that the Federal Executive Council has taken the tough decision to suspend the National Carrier Project in the interim. All commitments due will be honoured. We thank the public for the support as always.”
